An Arkansas football team is under fire following a racially motivated hazing incident that involved a noose being tied around an African-American player’s neck, according to WMC-TV.
The incident occurred last Monday inside the locker room of Wynne High School and involved junior varsity football players.
“There was an incident in the 9th grade locker-room,” superintendent Carl Easley said. “Two students are being recommended for expulsion and five have been suspended from school.”
The victim, 14, alleges the incident happened before practice. He has not been identified for fear of his safety, his mother told WMC-TV.
Wynne Police Department interviewed members of the football team present in the locker room and determined disciplinary action should be handled by the school district, WMC-TV reports.
