Tuskegee University Holds Vigil For Slain Student Bobby ‘BJ’ Smith

The campus of Tuskegee University is mourning the loss of one of its students after Bobby “BJ” Smith was gunned down during a block party held near the university, according to CBS Atlanta.

Smith, a 21-year-old Tennis player for the university, majored in Finance. He recently became a proud father of a newborn child who is only a few weeks old, according to the AP.

Smith, a native of Mableton, GA, was shot in the back when gunshots rang out during the unauthorized event. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Tuskegee Police Department and Alabama Bureau of Investigations are investigating the incident, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
