A teenage girl was murdered last night in South Side Chicago after she was stabbed in the chest during a fight, according to Chicago Tribune.
Dekayla Dansberry, 16, a freshman at Johnson College Prep, was in Parkway Gardens, also known as OBlock, when an argument erupted between two groups of girls.
Dekayla was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition where she later died.
Two suspects have been taken into custody.
“It was some type of dispute that turned physical, and it turned into a large group watching them fight. And the other girl pulled out a knife and stabbed her,” police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Chicago Sun Times. “Several people have been questioned, but no one was in custody Sunday afternoon.”
Friends and family held a vigil in Dekayla’s honor Sunday afternoon.
