Omega Essence Hazing Victim at Penn State Plans to Transfer

A Penn State student has filed charges against a group of students affiliated with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. plans to transfer.

Asya Trowell, an 18-year-old freshman at the university, alleges she was brutally hazed while attempting to pledge Omega Essence, an auxiliary group to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Trowell, who recently finished up the year’s coursework and finals, does not plan to return to the university, Centre Daily Times reports.

She reportedly plans to transfer to another school.

Trowell is currently in the process of providing medical records documenting her injuries to authorities. She reportedly suffered two black eyes and a bloody nose, according to a police reports obtained by Centre Daily Times.

Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller told Centre Daily Times are awaiting the records.
“We have requested and are waiting to receive the medical records, and when we do we will make the appropriate charging decisions,” she said.

In a separate incident, employees with ties to Omega Psi Phi stepped down from their positions at the university after it was discovered they engaged in hazing activities in Pennypacker Hall.

Aaron Holloman, a resident life coordinator in Pennypacker Hall, allegedly left his room unlocked for graduate assistant Claude Mayo to conduct hazing rituals with at least 10 pledges, according to Centre Daily Times.

Trowel named Holloman and Mayo in her complaint.
