A social collegiate fraternity has been shut down at Ohio State University for a series of infractions that spanned several years at the university, The Associate Press reports.
Beta Theta Pi fraternity, Inc. trustees closed the chapter during a hazing investigation. The fraternity and the university can reinstate the chapter in the future if they approve.
The fraternity’s Ohio university chapter was shut down last year due to alcohol violations.
Beta Theta Pi is not the first fraternity to be suspended at the university. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Kappa chapter was recently suspended due to hazing rituals that involved striking a pledge with a golf club. The chapter has recently been reinstated at the university.
Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, Inc. is one of the oldest social collegiate fraternities in North America. It was founded in 1839 at Miami University in Oxford, OH.
