Meek Mill Defends Troy Ave Amid Attempted Murder Charge

Meek Mill took to IG to offer his support for Troy Ave who is currently fighting for his life. Troy Ave was officially charged Monday with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in Manhattan Criminal Court firing his firearm at Irving Plaza in New York City.

Meek blasted the judicial system in his IG post, writing, “The laws they made ain’t designed to protect us! “They like get killed or get a 100 years” Don’t let the press “gas” you to go against ya own people! Because if that was a cop Tryna protect his life the police force gone stand behind them 100% “Pic look crazy” #freetroy & never let these “bum a– nobody “sucka” crab in the barrel dudes pull you down! Most of the time it’s all for attention…. that’s all these bustas be wanting forreal!”

Troy, 33, whose real name is Roland Collins, was ordered held without bail until trial despite requesting a $50,000 bail from the Judge Ushir Pandit Durant.

Troy Ave’s attorneys told the judge their client is the victim in the incident. Three people, including Troy Ave, were wounded in the incident. Troy’s friend and bodyguard Ronald (Edgar) McPhatter suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

McPhatter is seen in surveillance footage entering the green room behind Troy Ave, and then running past him as shots were fired.

He was shot in the stomach, fell downstairs and collapsed near a bar. He later died at Mount Sinai Israel Hospital.

Troy’s attorneys plan to present scientific evidence that show the rapper didn’t shoot himself or McPhatter.

T.I., the headliner of the event held at Irving Plaza Concert Hall, took to Twitter to offer his condolences to families affected by the tragedy.

“My heart is heavy today. Our music is intended to save lives, like it has mine and many others. My heartfelt condolences to the family that suffered the loss and my prayers are with all those injured,” he wrote.
