Suspects Carlos Johnson, 17, Deafro Brakes, 17, his brother Tarik Brakes, 16, and Isiah Penn, 17, were charged as adults with first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a firearm and robbery, according to a police statement obtained by the Tribune.

Johnson Prep basketball coach Ceddrick Hunter told the Chicago Sun-Times Demario was a “good kid, all-around good kid, always respectful.”

Demario wasn’t on the ball team but would accompany his brother to practice.
