Lil Herb Preps New Mixtape ‘Balling Like I’m Kobe’

Lil Herb is back in the studio following the successful release of his debut mixtape “Welcome To Fazoland.”

The East Side native revealed during an interview with DJ MoonDawg he is prepping the release of sophomore mixtape “Balling Like I’m Kobe.”

“Official name for my next project…I’ma drop a mixtape called ‘Balling Like I’m Kobe,’” he said.

The project has special significance to Herb as it honors his deceased friend Kobe.

“It’s in memory of my homie who passed away…Kobe,” Herb said.

Kobe, whose birth name was Jacoby Herron, was murdered Aug. 10, 2013 after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body outside a South Shore McDonald’s. He was 21.

Herb has mentioned Kobe numerous times in music, including songs, “All My N*ggas,” “All I Got” and “At The Light.”

“I know people probably familiar with me rapping about him on ‘At The Light,’” Herb said. “That was one of the biggest songs on the mixtape.”

In “At The Light,” Herb raps, “Me and Kobe off ACT with the sprite/He just left and they took his life/Wish the Lord would’ve just let him fight/But don’t trip man, it’s gon be alright.”

“The songs I got got meanings to them,” Herb explained. “I recorded that song three days after I lost my homie.”

Herb’s debut mixtape was named after deceased friend Fazion Robinson who was murdered April 12, 2010.

Herb’s upcoming project doesn’t have a set release date at this time.

“I don’t got an official date for it, but it’s coming real soon,” he said.
