Lebron James Calls Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert’s Criticism ‘Hurtful’

Lebron James sat down with Oprah Winfrey in an interview and discussed the criticism he received from Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert following his ESPN televised decision to play for the Miami Heat.

Gilbert personally guaranteed in his letter that Cavaliers would “win an NBA Championship before the self-titled former ‘King’ wins one.”

“You can take it to the bank,” he said.

Gilbert called James actions as “heartless” and “callous.”

James described Gilbert’s words as “hurtful” because he knew the hard work he “put into the [Cleveland Cavalier] organization.”

“Every night I went on the floor I tried to give my all and I tried to bring a championship to that city every single night,” he said. “But at the same time I understand everyone has their opinion. Everyone has the right to say what they want to say and there’s nothing I can do about that.”

Winfrey interviewed James and Miami Heat teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh for “Oprah’s Next Chapter.” Part one will air 8 p.m. EDT Sunday on the Oprah Winfrey Network with part two at 8 p.m. EDT July 8.
