George Zimmerman Makes Insensitive ‘Hoodie’ Joke in Jailhouse Call

If George Zimmerman is gearing up for a career as a stand-up comic, a crop of tomatoes is awaiting him.

The 28-year-old neighborhood watchman accused of shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin made an insensitive joke about the teen, jailhouse audio reveals.

Zimmerman and his wife discussed renting vehicles for his safety and anonymity. Zimmerman’s wife Shelley, who was charged with perjury, told him he could lie down in the car.

Zimmerman then joked, “Yeah, exactly. Well, I have my hoodie.”

In the jailhouse calls, Zimmerman and his wife spoke in code to conceal their available funds, which amounted to over $130, 000. This was a clear contradiction to the bond hearing when they told the court they were broke.

Zimmerman is behind bars at the Seminole County jail awaiting a second bond hearing on June 29.
