Olympic Gold Medalist Gabrielle Douglas revealed to Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter she has not talked to her father much since her parents separated.

Douglas’ parents separated in 2007 and are currently in the process of getting a divorce.

“We’re kinda distant,” Douglas told Winfrey.

Douglas said her mother thought it would be best to protect her from her father.

“I got a new phone and my mom thought it was best to keep me protective and him not to have my phone number, he would have no way of contacting me,” she said.

Douglas doesn’t think it would be the best time to talk to her father at the present time and would rather “stay under the bubble.”
