CNN Debates P. Diddy’s Son Justin Combs’ UCLA Scholarship

P. Diddy’s star high school football player son Justin Combs is receiving backlash for receiving a $54,000 UCLA scholarship to play football.

CNN made Diddy’s son the topic of discussion when raising the question on whether he deserves the money.

Forbes ranked Sean Combs as the wealthiest entertainer in Hip Hop with a net worth of $550 million. With Combs’ vast wealth, CNN asked whether Justin should hand over the funds to another deserving student.

UCLA spokesman Ricardo Vazquez said Justin deserved the scholarship because of his sports talent, not his need, Ace Showbiz reports.

“Athletic scholarships, such as those awarded to football or basketball players, do not rely on state funds,” he said. “Instead, these scholarships are entirely funded through UCLA Athletics ticket sales, corporate partnerships, media contracts and private donations from supporters.”

Justin, who graduated from New Rochelle Iona Prep in New York with a 3.75 GPA, doesn’t have any plans to give the money back.

In an interview with CNN, Education contributor Dr. Steve Perry backed UCLA’s decision to give Justin the scholarship saying her earned it.

“He’s done what he needs to do to be successful and in ‘Ameritocracy’ we have to accept that no matter who your father is, whether he be rich, poor or absent, that you can in fact be successful on your own merit,” Perry said.
