Violence in Chicago is at an all-time high. The Windy City has posted 90 homicides in the month of August alone, according to the New York Times. It is the deadliest month in Chicago in about 20 years.
Chicago has 471 homicides thus far this year, a 50 percent increase since last year.
The number of nonfatal shootings has also risen. There has been more than 2,300 shootings this year.
Though Chicago is the nation’s third-largest city, it has recorded more homicides than New York and Los Angeles combined.
Analysts believe Chicago will end the year off with 700 homicides.
