Chiraq Recorded 72 Murders In June, City On Pace For 700 Murders In 2016

Violence in Chicago has not slowed. The Windy City recorded 72 homicides in the month of June, according to CPD crime statistics compiled by ABC 7 Chicago. This is up 46 from June 2015, WGN TV reports.

In June, there had been a total of 361 shootings and 447 shooting victims.

There have been 315 murders so far this year, a reported 50 percent increase from 2015. There has also been a total of 1,600 shootings and 1,953 shooting victims.

Analysts now expect homicides to top 700 victims this year.
