A Chicago man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after he accidentally shot his friend while sitting in the backseat of a parked car, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Antonio Lampley, of South Side Chicago, 23, was high on marijuana while turning up to some music Feb. 25 when he fired a loaded handgun into the back of 23-year-old Derrius Drakes who was sitting in the front seat. Lampley forgot there was a bullet in the chamber.
Lampley then hid the gun before putting Drakes in a truck and driving him to Roseland Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to DNAInfo.
A gunshot residue test confirmed to officers Lampley was the shooter.
Lampley is being held on $200,000 bail in Cook County Jail.
