Bobby Shmurda’s Mom Accuses NYPD of Racial Profiling In East Flatbush, Brooklyn

Leslie Pollard, the mother of Epic Records artist Bobby Shmurda, accused the NYPD of racial profiling during an interview with Fox 5 New York. Shmurda sits in Manhattan Detention Complex aka “The Tombs” on charges of conspiracy, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and criminally using drug paraphernalia. Bobby, whose bail has been set at $2 million, pled not guilty to those charges Thursday, Jan. 30.

“They have their eyes on the minority youths in our neighborhood and they know what they want to do and what they want to see from them,” Ms. Pollard told Fox 5.

Bobby Shmurda and GS9 were arrested Dec. 17 after a recording session at Quad Studio. Their arrests follow a long-term investigation by the NYPD for their suspected involvement in gang-related shootings and drug trafficking in NYC, according to the New York Daily News. Police reportedly seized 21 guns during their investigation, 10 of them during the crew’s highly publicized arrests.

“I don’t know them as a gang,” Ms. Pollard said. “I know them as children that grew up in my house. I look at all of them as my babies.”

Bobby Shmurda also accused the NYPD of profiling him.

“The cops been out for me for forever,” he told Hot 97. “They been tryna slay me for forever, but they never catch me with nothing. It might’ve been four, five cops that grabbed me up. They said they don’t want their kids listening to my music.”

Bobby’s next court hearing is scheduled for April 22.
