Bobby Shmurda Is Suing The NYPD For Wrongful Arrest

Bobby Shmurda has filed a lawsuit against the NYPD officers who arrested him at a friend’s home in June 2014, according to the New York Daily News.

Bobby claims officer Douglas Corso and other police officer kicked in his friend’s Rockaway Parkway home in Brooklyn without search warrant on June 3, according to court documents obtained by the Daily News.

Bobby claims he suffered permanent “nervous shock and mental anguish” from his arrest.

The NYPD found drug paraphernalia and a gun they claimed Bobby tried to hide inside a couch. The GS9 rapper denied the gun belonged to him.

Though the gun charge from that incident was dismissed, he still facing drug and weapons charges from his December 2014 arrest.

Corso, the only officer named in Bobby’s lawsuit, was a defendant in five other federal civil rights lawsuits dating back to 2011.

Bobby’s attorney Alex Spiro reportedly said the cops were the only witnesses in Shmurda’s gun arrest, and one officer confessed to lying about a drug deal in a separate case, according to Bossip.

Spiro said the three officers had each been sued for misconduct, including unlawful stop and search and false arrest, and the city settled some of the cases out of court, and a few are still pending.

“This isn’t just a singular encounter where one police officer is sued by one individual one time and the case is dismissed,” Spiro told the judge during a March 15 hearing, according to transcripts obtained by Bossip. This is a rampant pattern that existed in this case and with these officers in other cases.”

Bobby told Vibe in a recent interview his arresting officers are “dirty.”

“I’ve known the cops since I was 11-12 years old,” he said. “They tried to put guns on me. They tried to do a whole bunch of stuff.”

Bobby remains in jail on $2 million bail for charges of conspiracy, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and criminally using drug paraphernalia. His trial begins May 11.
