Atlanta area barber Russell Frederick, co-owner of A1-Kutz, offers a free service to parents of misbehaving kids. He will give them the “Benjamin Button Special,” which is his name for an old man haircut. Kids resemble a balding senior citizen after the cut is completed.

The 34-year-old father of three told The Washington Post he used the disciplinary measure to set his 12-year-old son Rushawn straight. His son’s grades, he said, “dramatically skyrocketed” after he got an old man cut.



Frederick told WSBTV-Atlanta if kids want to act grown, he would make them look grown up.



A photo of a child who received his “Benjamin Button Special” has since gone viral. The child, he said, was brought in by a single mother who told Frederick “she was looking for a way to teach her son a lesson after he misbehaved in school.” The boy was publicly humiliated for four days before the mother told Frederick her son learned his lesson. She brought him back to get his hair fixed.

“He understood why it happened and he rolled with it and allowed it to make him stronger,” Fredrick told the Post. “You gotta reach these kids somehow, and I would gladly do it again.”
