Rakim Mayers, known to many as A$AP Rocky, believes homophobia will cause the genre of Hip Hop to fail if artists don’t become accepting other people’s sexualities. A$AP told spinner.com he doesn’t like the hate directed towards homosexuals.
Mayers said he doesn’t “condone” homosexuality, but he’s not “sayin’ I’m against it.”
Mayers, himself a heterosexual, says he is not going to distance himself from others due to their sexuality. He professes he loves women, but that doesn’t mean he’s “not going to not be your friend because you like men.”
A$AP Rocky says homophobic people “need to just hang yourself like the rest of the KKK motherf***rs.”
A$AP Rocky claims homophobia will destroy the genre of Hip Hop if tolerance isn’t practiced. He cites Pop music as being an accepting genre of sexualities.
“I’m not saying that hip-hop needs gay rappers or anything,” he says, “but they need to stop being so close-minded because that will just cause the genre to fail. Look at pop. Pop doesn’t discriminate against people. Look at Lady Gaga, y’know what I mean? Who the f**k makes the rules for hip-hop? Who the f**k dictates who’s cool and who’s not? F**k you.”
Rocky says you “hate a person because they’re a thief or a bad person” and not what they do in privacy on their own time.
“I don’t care and it’s like f***ed up that hip-hop is so retarded,” he said. “They don’t want to accept nothing.”
