Chicago was afflicted by yet another violent weekend of gun violence. At least 56 people were shot over Memorial Day weekend between Friday afternoon and early Tuesday morning with 12 people succumbing to their injuries, WGN TV reports.
Two teens, 15 and 17, were killed in separate shooting incidents.
The youngest gunshot victim was 4-year-old Jacele Johnson who was shot in the head while sitting in a vehicle with 17-year-old cousin Romare Wilson outside of a prom party. She’s currently in critical condition at Comer Children’s Hospital.
Wilson was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn after he was shot in the chest and grazed by a bullet in the neck.
A 15-year-old girl standing nearby was shot in the forehead and taken to Stroger Hospital where her condition stabilized.
A $6,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the shooter, according to WGN TV.
