50 Cent said there is certain guidelines to success artists must follow. 50 Cent said many artists believe the record label is supposed to do all of the work. This, he said, is not case.
“In this day and time, artists need to join public before they meet the record company,” 50 Cent said. “When you work, you work. He’s going to know that you were the right guy. That’s it. When they wait, they waiting for the label and the label waiting for you. When you got the momentum, you got the ball rolling.”
50 Cent praised Hip Hop newcomer Kendrick Lamar for successfully implementing the strategy to success.
“Like Kendrick, they didn’t do that. Kendrick did it,” he said. “They was working.”
