TMZ is reporting Birdman denied having any role in an assassination plot on Lil Wayne’s life.
TMZ reports:
“Sources close to Wayne and Birdman confirm to TMZ what police docs insinuated… that Birdman got a phone call on April 26, shortly after the bus was shot up in Atlanta. As we reported, police knew the call was placed between 2 phones registered to Birdman.
We’re told the call came from someone in Wayne’s camp who was understandably pissed, and anxious to tell Birdman what went down shortly before the shooting – that Jimmy Carlton Winfrey had been kicked out of a club for harassing Wayne.
Winfrey was eventually arrested and charged with the shooting.
Our sources say Birdman assured Wayne he was not involved in any way, and vowed to help figure out who was behind it.”
An indictment filed in Cobb County in June alleges Thug and Birdman were involved in a RICO conspiracy to kill Lil Wayne.
This comes after Young Thug and Birdman’s Rich Gang affiliate Peewee Roscoe was accused of shooting up Weezy’s tour bus in April.
Roscoe, born Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, was arrested in May on multiple felony counts that include aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, criminal damage, possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal gang activity, reckless conduct and discharging a weapon near the street.
Young Thug hasn’t denied his affiliation to PeeWee and even launched a campaign to free him.
“We finna start this Free Rosco campaign,” he said. “I need everybody in this motherf *cking world to say ‘Free motherf*cking Roscoe.’”
Roscoe collaborated with Young Thug and T.I. on song “Bankrolls On Deck.”
Roscoe, 25, of Atlanta, is reported to have carried out the crime to gain higher gang status in the Bloods Gang, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Roscoe allegedly cause $20,000 worth of damages when two tour buses belonging to Lil Wayne were hit on I-285 near I-75 in Cobb County following a performance at Compound nightclub, according to WSB-TV. Roscoe is reported to have fired the shots from his vehicle. No one was injured.
“Said accused did commit said act in order to gain status in his criminal organization by a committing a high profile shooting of a rival rap artist,” the warrant states, according to AJC. “Said accused has associated himself with known blood gang members in the Atlanta area.”
The indictment reportedly states Thug, Birdman and Wayne are members of the Bloods gang.
